Edinburgh: Become a Highlander for a Day!
Edinburgh (United Kingdom)
Location
EDINBURGH PRISON - 1745
Fàilte Gu Alba! Welcome to Scotland. Join the Jacobites to discover how Highlanders truly lived in the 18th century.
Start your day off right by immersing yourself in Scottish culture and tradition. Begin by getting dressed in traditional Scottish clothing, including your own Kilt, to truly embody the spirit of a Highlander. Then, take a guided tour of Edinburgh to learn about the rich history of Scotland. Afterwards, embark on a private immersive storytelling experience in an underground prison that was lost for centuries after the last Great Edinburgh Fire. Here, you'll step directly into the past and become a Highlander, searching for Charles Edward Stuart, also known as "Bonnie Prince Charlie," who is hiding from English Redcoat soldiers in Balivanich on the Benbecula island near Skye. With hand-drawn art, traditional music, and a story built with historians, this experience is sure to transport you to another time.
Next, enjoy a traditional Scottish lunch at a local haunted pub that's sure to add a spooky twist to your meal. And for the afternoon, focus on one of Scotland's greatest exports: whisky. Learn about the different families of whisky, from the apple/vanilla notes of Speyside to the charred wood taste of Islay whisky. Adults will even get the chance to taste 4 different single malts, while children can enjoy Scotland's 'national' soft drink, Irn Bru. By the end of the day, you'll have gained a newfound appreciation for Scottish culture, history, and tradition.
