Overview

Our tour includes entry into CS Lewis's college called Magdalen college worth £9.50 per person plus as and when open, we also see inside Tolkien's college called Exeter, worth £3 per person..

This tour focuses on the Inklings' Oxford but also introduces the city history + university life. See inspiring sights relating to CS Lewis & JRR Tolkien on a 2 hour plus tour of the sights where they worked & relaxed, including the pubs they enjoyed. Locations visited include Magdalene or Merton college plus where and when open, we also visit Exeter college.

Various start times are offered by time of year.

What's included?

Entry to Magdalen college worth £10 per adult included in ticket price, as and when Magdalen is open. On dates published below, as exclusions, we will instead visit a substitute college, as and when open. Note that on Christmas vacation dates from about Dec 22 to Dec 31 and on university graduation dates, sometimes no colleges are open.

Exclusions

On any dates when Magdalen college is closed, we will instead enter a different college- see known closures below. However, please note that during Christmas dates below or on university graduation dates, we cannot always guarantee entry inside an alternative college.

Magdalen is closed from typically about Dec 22 to Dec 31 every year.

The college will be closed all day on Tuesday February 24th 2026

The college will be closed all day on Friday June 26th, 27th and 28th 2026

The college will be open from 10am to 1pm only on Thursday September 24th 2026.

The college will be closed all day on Friday September 25th and Sunday October 4th 2026.
