Sugar Loaf + Corcovado Tour

Our tour starts with a guided visit to the Sugar Loaf and its famous cable car , in operation since 1912. The ride in the cable car is divided in two sections, one from the city level to the Urca mountain, and the other from Urca mountain to the famous Pão de Açúcar mountain (or simply Sugar Loaf for foreigners). From its summit, the view is breathtaking . In one single frame, one can see the Corcovado mountain, the Aterro do Flamengo, downtown Rio, the Guanabara bay area , as well as the fortresses of Santa Cruz and Laje by the bay entrance, and copacabana beach.

The Christ the Redeemer Statue is one of the new seven wonders of the planet . The Corcovado (“Hunchback”) mountain where it stands, was named for its shape, due to its narrow summit . Building the statue back in 1926 was a big challenge for the engineers. It is the most popular attraction of Corcovado mountain and brings over 300,000 visitors every year. From the peak’s platform, the panoramic view includes downtown Rio, as well as the south area.
