The Metropolitan Museum of Art houses one of the greatest art collections in the world. With over two million works of art and artifacts, ranging from ancient Greece and Egypt to Modern art from Europe, it is New York’s must-see museum.
Maximize your time at the museum and choose between the option of either a small group guided tour or a private tour of all the most popular galleries with an expert guide. Alternatively, you can explore the museum galleries on your own after an initial 30-minute museum orientation session
On this tour you will walk through 5000 years of world art history. You will see the grandiosity of the Egyptian temple of Dendur, the priceless masterpieces of the Robert Lehman collection, the original facade of a Wall Street bank, and much more!
Art movements that shaped the visual world around us will unfold themselves in front of your eyes. The revolutions of impressionism, cubism, abstract expressionism and others have all found their place on the walls of The Met.
If there is a specific area you are excited to visit in the museum, please ask your guide and they will happily try to accommodate. The best part is that you are welcome to stay and spend the rest of your day exploring the exhibits until closing.
If that's not enough, you can also visit the museum’s uptown location – The Cloisters – on the same day with your entry ticket. The Met also has special extended hours on Friday or Saturday evening, and you are invited to join then for a quieter, exclusive experience.
Locations usually visited on the guided tour include:
