Location

Kanchanaburi is a town of contrasts that is west of Bangkok. Stunning, natural beauty co-exists with a dark history that must never be forgotten. On this Private Tour you will visit some infamous sites from the World War 2 era in an exceptionally alluring environment.

Meet your tour guide in the hotel lobby at approximately 7.00am before heading out of Bangkok to Kanchanaburi in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Just over 100kms from the centre of Bangkok is your first stop, The Kanchanaburi War Cemetery. This is the main cemetery for the Allied POWs who died whilst victims of Japanese imprisonment during the building of the Burma Railway. It is on the main road, Saeng Chuto Road, through the town of Kanchanaburi, Thailand, adjacent to an older Chinese cemetery.

After that continue to the JEATH Museum. The JEATH War Museum is a old, real war museum. It is maintained by the neighbouring monks and consists mainly of small artifacts and pictures depicting the horrors the prisoners endured. JEATH is an acronym for Japan, England, America/Australia, Thailand, Holland.

Then it is up to the famous bridge! The 'Bridge on the River Kwai' is a steel bridge and one of Thailand's most important historical landmarks. It is practically a symbol of the province and is a recommended place in all Kanchanaburi travel guides. The history of the bridge is well known, as it was part of a badly damaged railway line in World War II and saw its fair share of conflict and bloodshed.

The bridge was renovated by the Thai government in 1946. You will then take a short train from the station at the bridge to Tham Kasae station where there is a beautiful cave next to the railway line

Lunch will be at local restaurant with very good scenic view of River Kwai.

After lunch continue onto the last stop, Erawan Waterfall, to enjoy swimming and nature walks. You will spend time there until about 3.30pm-4.00pm before it is time to head back to Bangkok. You will be dropped at your centrally located city hotel approximately 6.30pm.
