This fabulous one-day trip to Bulgaria starts in the early morning, at a central meeting point in Bucharest, where you will join the group before heading south towards the Danube River. After crossing the border into Bulgaria, your adventure begins.

The first stop is the riverside city of Ruse, where you will discover a mix of local life and historic architecture. Here you’ll visit Sveta Troitsa Cathedral, one of the oldest Orthodox churches in the city, and have some time to enjoy the atmosphere and take photos.

The journey then continues to the traditional village of Arbanasi, located on a high plateau overlooking the surrounding area. During a short stop here, you can stroll a bit, admire the traditional houses, and enjoy the scenic views that give the village its special charm.

From Arbanasi, you travel to Veliko Tarnovo, once the medieval capital of Bulgaria. This picturesque city offers beautiful views over the hills and valley, as well as a rich historical heritage. The highlight of the day is Tsarevets Fortress, the strongest Bulgarian fortification of the Middle Ages and former residence of Bulgarian royalty, standing proudly atop Tsarevets Hill.

After visiting the fortress, you will have free time in Veliko Tarnovo’s Old Town to enjoy lunch, walk along the cobbled streets, browse local shops, and explore on your own.

In the late afternoon, you will start the journey back to Romania. After crossing the Danube once again, you will arrive back in Bucharest with wonderful memories of a full day spent discovering some of Bulgaria’s most interesting sights.
